It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a snowmobile or all-purpose vehicle upon the frozen surface of waters controlled by the State of Ohio when such waters have not been specifically designated by signs, indicating said vehicles may be operated thereon.

Rule 1501:20-5-02 | Minimum ice requirements.

Ch 119.
(A) Ice thickness for the operation of a snowmobile or all-purpose vehicle upon the frozen surface of any waters controlled by the State and designated by the Department as permissible for such operation shall be determined by the operator. (B) The Department recommends a minimum ice thickness of five (5) inches, but offers no guarantee of safety to any person who voluntarily assumes a known and obvious risk inherent to such vehicle operation.
