(A) School districts shall administer a child abuse detection training program in compliance with procedures established in section 3319.073 of the Revised Code, (in-service training in child abuse prevention) and procedures established by the department of education.
(B) School districts and educational service centers shall maintain records of staff participation in in-service training in child abuse detection.
(C) School districts and educational service centers may apply to the department of education for a child abuse detection training program grant to reimburse all or part of the cost of in-service training for child abuse detection training. Such applications must be filed with the department of education in accordance with the application deadline established by the department. The department of education shall grant funds within the limits of the appropriation provided by the general assembly.
(D) Applications for child abuse training program grants shall include but not be limited to: Project description of the focus and time-span of in-service provided; the number, job title and years of employment for school employees participating in the in-service training; and documented costs incurred by the school district in providing in-service training for child abuse prevention and detection. The department of education may request additional information from the district as required.
