3701-57-03 Referral Services.

(A) Ohio department of health birth defects information system staff or appropriate staff from community programs may contact parents and legal guardians of children reported to the birth defects information system to offer referral information for specialty physicians and other programs such as “Help Me Grow”, the Ohio department of health genetics program, local health departments, and the “Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps”.

(1) If the family accepts follow-up services, the appropriate referrals to services an programs will be made.

(2) If the child’s parent or legal guardian declines referrals, the case will be flagged and reviewed for a potential second contact.
