Rule 3769-7-27 | Intoxicants prohibited.
Jockeys shall not use intoxicants or drugs of any type during the racing day and shall be disciplined if they fail to report sober and in fit condition to fulfill their engagements. Jockeys may be granted permission by the stewards to use drugs prescribed by a physician provided that a written authorization by their physician is on file with the commission. If the prescription indicates that taking the medication may impair vision, impair the ability to perform normal daily functions, cause drowsiness, or the prescription advises using care when operating a car or machinery; the physician has to acknowledge that the licensee is able to ride while on this medication. This written authorization has to be reported to the commission by the prescribing physician prior to riding.
