Rule 4501:2-7-01 | Definitions.

 

(A) "State highway patrol officer" means an officer of the uniformed division of the Ohio state highway patrol who has completed all entry level and training requirements and has been appointed as a trooper under the provisions of section 5503.03 of the Revised Code.

(B) "Line of duty" means:

(1) When acting pursuant to the duties and powers invested by Chapter 5503. of the Revised Code.

(2) While off duty and in or out of uniform and after identifying self as a state highway patrol trooper, and responding to a situation within the powers and duties of Chapter 5503. of the Revised Code or a felony section of the "Ohio Criminal Code."

(C) "Administrative or clerical duties" means general office duties to include but not exclusive of:

(1) Writing reports;

(2) Typing reports;

(3) Filing;

(4) Recording data.

(D) "Meal or rest period" means while the Ohio state highway patrol officer is engaged in eating a meal or resting in an off-duty status. Meal periods or rest periods taken during emergency or riot conditions will not be considered as meal or rest periods for granting occupational injury leave.

(E) "Personal business" means:

(1) The completion of any activity not required of the officer by Chapter 5503. of the Revised Code.
