The board will recognize an Ohio licensed optometrist who holds a valid topical ocular pharmaceutical agents certificate as qualified to take the treatment and management of ocular disease examination in accordance with the following:
(A) The applicant must document to the board successful completion of at least thirty clock hours of study in therapeutic pharmacology over and in addition to the fifty-seven hours of study which the candidate completed for topical ocular pharmaceutical agents certification. The additional thirty clock hour course of study in therapeutic pharmacology shall include the diagnosis of disorders of the visual system, the treatment of ocular disease and injury, the nature of adverse reactions caused by ocular pharmaceutical agents and emergency steps to be taken in such cases, ocular signs and symptoms of systemic disease and appropriate criteria for referral.
(B) All of the hours of study listed in paragraph (A) of this rule must have been completed at an institution accredited by a regional or professional accreditation organization that is recognized or approved by the "council on postsecondary or the United States Department of Education or its successor. Candidates must document this requirement by submitting valid proof of completion of the study
