(A) A licensee who performs any procedure that requires use of needles shall only utilize sterile, disposable needles.
(B) When performing any procedure that requires use of needles, each licensee shall appropriately wash his or her hands prior to and after performing the invasive procedure. Hands and skin surfaces shall be washed immediately and thoroughly if contaminated with blood or other body fluids.
(C) Licensees shall take precautions to minimize the risk of being exposed to or exposing other to HIV positive patients and/or seropositive Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C patients.
(D) Licensees shall utilize aseptic techniques when performing any invasive procedure involving needles.
(E) All needles shall be disposed of by each of the following methods:
(1) In a rigid, puncture resistant, leak resistant container that closes tightly to prevent loss of contents. The container shall be located in close proximity to the area of use; and
(2) According to requirements established by federal, local, and state environmental regulatory agencies.
