4765-11-15 Fire service instructor curriculum.

(A) A fire service instructor training program shall consist of seventy hours and shall be taught in accordance with the objectives approved by the executive director. The program hours shall be allocated as follows:

(1) Fifty hours in instruction of adult students and basic teaching techniques;

(2) Eight hours in instruction specific to fire service training;

(3) Ten hours of supervised teaching in the presence of a certified fire instructor, as approved by the chartered program offering the fire service instructor training program;

(4) The final two hours are credited toward successful completion of the techniques examination approved by the executive director.

(B) A person seeking certification as a fire service instructor who holds at least a baccalaureate degree in education may receive credit for the fifty hours of instruction required in paragraph (A)(1) of this rule.

(C) A fire service instructor training program shall be taught by a fire service instructor trainer under the auspice of a chartered program.
