4765-20-23 Merging of fire service and fire instructor certificates with EMS certificates.

(A) Within ninety days of the effective date of this rule, a person holding a current firefighter and/or fire safety inspector certificate, and/or a fire instructor or assistant instructor certificate, who also holds a current first responder or EMT certificate to practice, shall be issued a common expiration date for all certificates, which will be the expiration date of the firefighter certificate, or fire safety inspector certificate if the individual does not possess a current firefighter certificate.

(B) Any person who held an active firefighter and/or fire safety inspector certificate on January 24, 2008, and failed to submit an application for renewal within twelve months of that date is not eligible to function as a firefighter or fire safety inspector and shall be subject to reinstatement as set forth in rule 4765-20-08 of the Administrative Code.

(C) Any person who held an active fire instructor certificate on January 24, 2008, and failed to submit an application for renewal within twelve months of that date is not eligible to function as a fire instructor and shall be subject to reinstatement as set forth in rule 4765-21-05 of the Administrative Code.

(D) Once a mutual expiration date is established for all EMS and fire certificates, all certificates will expire on the individual's birthday in the third year.
