4765-21-07 EMS instructor seeking fire instructor or fire safety inspector instructor certification.

(A) The executive director shall issue a fire instructor certificate to an applicant who holds a valid EMS instructor certificate, issued under rule 4765-18-05 of the Administrative Code, if the applicant meets all of the following requirements:

(1) Submits a completed "Fire Instructor, Assistant Fire Instructor and or Fire Safety Inspector Instructor Initial Application;"

(2) In the preceding seven years, has been certified for at least five years as a firefighter;

(3) Possesses a current and valid firefighter certificate that is in good standing;

(4) Successfully passes the knowledge examination as set forth in rule 4765-20-06 of the Administrative Code at the firefighter II level;

(5) Successfully completes the four hour "Fire Service Training Module;"

(6) Successfully completes the four hour "Live Fire Training Awareness Course;"

(7) Complies with the requirements for a firefighter certificate as set forth in paragraphs (A)(5) to (A)(6) of rule 4765-20-02 of the Administrative Code;

(B) An applicant for a fire instructor certificate, who wishes to provide instruction in any live fire training courses, shall successfully complete the "Live Fire Training Operations Course" through a chartered program.

(C) The executive director shall issue a fire safety inspector instructor certificate to an applicant who holds a valid EMS instructor certificate issued under rule 4765-18-05 of the Administrative Code, if the applicant meets all of the following requirements:

(1) Submits a completed "Fire Instructor, Assistant Fire Instructor and or Fire Safety Inspector Instructor Initial Application;"

(2) In the preceding seven years, has been certified for at least five years as a fire safety inspector;

(3) Possesses a current and valid fire safety inspector certificate that is in good standing;

(4) Successfully passes the knowledge examination as set forth in rule 4765-20-06 of the Administrative Code for fire safety inspector;

(5) Successfully completes the eight hour "Fire Safety Inspector Training Module;"

(6) Complies with the requirements set forth in paragraphs (A)(5) to (A)(6) of rule 4765-20-03 of the Administrative Code.

(D) A certificate to teach issued pursuant to this rule shall be issued in accordance with the certification cycles and pro-rated renewal requirements set forth in rule 4765-20-22 of the Administrative Code.
