Rule 3301-24-30 | Educator license validation in financial literacy instruction.
(A) A license validation in financial literacy, valid for teaching financial literacy in grades seven through twelve under division (C)(9) of section 3313.603 of the Revised Code, is to be issued to an individual who:
(1) Holds either:
(a) A valid educator license issued under section 3319.22 or 3319.26 of the Revised Code; or
(b) A permanent teaching certificate issued under former law;
(2) Is deemed to be of good moral character;
(3) Except as provided in paragraph (C) of this rule, has successfully completed a district approved training in financial literacy designed to prepare educators and aligned to Ohios learning standards in financial literacy; and
(4) Has successfully completed an examination prescribed by the state board of education.
(B) The licensure validation may be added to any valid educator license issued under section 3319.22 or 3319.26 of the Revised Code or a permanent teaching certificate issued under former law.
(C) If the educator and the employing district both agree that the educator, based upon evidence of the educators previous education, work experience, or teaching experience in the area of financial literacy, would not benefit from completion of the district approved training in financial literacy, the educator is not required to complete the district approved training in financial literacy specified in paragraph (A)(3) of this rule to qualify for a financial literacy licensure validation. In the event that the two parties do not agree, then the educator will complete the district approved training in financial literacy specified in paragraph (A)(3) of this rule. It is still necessary for the educator to meet the other requirements set forth in paragraph (A) of this rule including successfully completing the examination prescribed by the state board of education to qualify for a financial literacy licensure validation.
