Each board of education shall adopt and enforce standards governing the types of food that may be sold on the premises of its schools, and specifying the time and place each type of food may be sold. In adopting the standards, the board shall consider each food’s nutritional value. No food may be sold on any school premises except in accordance with the standards adopted by the board of education.
The state board of education shall formulate and adopt guidelines, which boards of education may follow in enforcing and implementing this section.
