Rule 1501:47-7-19 | Lake Roaming Rock, Ashtabula county.
(A) Definitions:
(1) "No-wake speed" means to operate a powered vessel at a speed determined by the minimum amount of power required to maintain steerage of the craft.
(2) "Open zone" means the waters of lake Roaming Rock which are more than seventy-five feet from the shoreline and not otherwise designated as "no-wake."
(3) "Shore zone" means that water area of a uniform width of seventy-five feet lying parallel with and contiguous to the shoreline.
(4) "Wake" means a track left by a watercraft causing waves or swells.
(B) Operation:
(1) No person may operate or permit the operation of a vessel at a speed greater than no-wake speed within the shore zone.
(2) Powercraft operating in the open zone are to travel in a counter-clockwise direction with the shoreline on the starboard (right) side of the powercraft except to pick up a fallen skier.
(3) No person may operate or permit the operation of a watercraft in a manner intended to allow one or more persons to engage in wake boarding, wake surfing, or wake skating through the utilization or employment of any wake-enhancing device without maintaining a minimum distance of two hundred-fifty feet from shore.
Wake-enhancing devices consist of any integrated or assembled apparatus intended to lower the stern of the vessel for the purpose of increasing the wake created by the vessel under normal or low speed operating conditions. Wake-enhancing devices include, but are not limited to; ballast tanks or bladders, wedges, attitude adjustment plates, hydrogates, trim tabs, wake plates, hydrofoils, or any other contrivance, commercially manufactured or independently engineered for the purpose of increasing wake.
(4) No person may operate or permit the operation of at a motorized vessel at a speed greater than idle speed, or at a speed that creates a wake at any time when the lake warning beacons are activated as notice of hazardous conditions.
(C) Restrictions:
(1) The use or operation of any air propelled powercraft, hovercraft, wing-in-ground craft, jet boards, e-foils, or submersible watercraft is not permitted on the waters of lake Roaming Rock.
(2) No person may operate or permit the operation at a speed greater than idle speed, or at a speed that creates a wake between sunset and sunrise.
(3) No watercraft is permitted to be used for the purpose of sleeping on board overnight or as a dwelling.
(4) No watercraft may be left unattended between the hours of sunset and sunrise at beach number 1 or beach number 2.
(5) No watercraft are permitted to come ashore, anchor, or tie up anywhere other than at an assigned location in the area of beach number 1. Watercraft may be permitted to come ashore, anchor, or tie up in areas of beach number 2 specifically designated for such use.
(6) Not more than two skiers or other towable devices are to be towed by any single watercraft simultaneously.
(7) While being towed by a watercraft, no person is permitted to have any type of airfoil or other device in hand or affixed to the person for the purpose of becoming airborne over the waters of lake Roaming Rock.
(8) No races, regattas, or other special events may be conducted on the waters of lake Roaming Rock without the express written permission of the RomeRock association board of directors.
