Rule 3745-50-250 | General information about standardized permits - storage units and treatment units.

 

(A) A standardized permit is a special type of permit that authorizes owners and operators to manage hazardous waste. A standardized permit is issued under rules 3745-50-250 to 3745-50-320 and 3745-50-700 to 3745-50-711 of the Administrative Code.

(B) Eligibility for a standardized permit.

(1) Owners or operators may be eligible for a standardized permit if:

(a) An owner or operator may be eligible for a standardized permit if the owner or operator generates hazardous waste and then stores or non-thermally treats the hazardous waste on-site in containers, tanks, or containment buildings; or

(b) Receives hazardous waste generated off-site by a generator under the same ownership as the receiving facility, and then stores or non-thermally treats the hazardous waste in containers, tanks, or containment buildings.

(c) Ohio EPA will inform the owners or operators of the owner's or operator's eligibility for a standardized permit when Ohio EPA makes a decision on the permit application.

(C) The following provisions of Chapter 3745-50 of the Administrative Code and sections of 40 CFR Part 270 apply to a standardized permit:

(1) Rules 3745-50-10, 3745-50-11, 3745-50-45, 3745-50-47, and 3745-50-49 of the Administrative Code and 40 CFR 270.3 and 40 CFR 270.5 (general information);

(2) Rules 3745-50-30, 3745-50-40, 3745-50-41, 3745-42, 3745-50-43, and 3745-50-44 of the Administrative Code (permit application);

(3) Rules 3745-50-40, 3745-50-48, 3745-50-50, and 3745-50-58 of the Administrative Code (permit conditions);

(4) Rules 3745-50-51, 3745-50-52, and 3745-50-53 of the Administrative Code (changes to permit);

(5) Rules 3745-50-54 and 3745-50-56 of the Administrative Code (expiration and continuation of permits);

(6) Rule 3745-50-67 of the Administrative Code (special forms of permits);

(7) Rules 3745-50-40, 3745-50-46, and 3745-50-51 of the Administrative Code (interim standards); and

(8) Rules 3745-50-250 to 3745-50-320 of the Administrative Code (standardized permits);

(9) Rules 3745-50-80 to 3745-50-230 of the Administrative Code (remedial action plans) do not apply.
