Rule 5180:2-9-30 | Kitchens and kitchen supplies.

 

(A) Does a children's residential center need a food service license to prepare meals?

Each children's residential center owned or operated by a private child placing agency (PCPA) or private noncustodial agency (PNA) is to secure a food service license for each kitchen in which meals are prepared in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 3717. of the Revised Code and Chapter 3701-21 of the Administrative Code pertaining to food service operation as administered and enforced by the local department of health.

(B) What must be available in each kitchen within a residential facility?

(1) Permanent or disposable utensils.

(2) Appliances for storage and preparation of meals served in the facility.

(C) What items are to be provided at food serving areas in residential facilities?

Each food serving location within a residential facility is to provide the following permanent or disposable items in sufficient quantity to serve the population assigned to eat at that location:

(1) Serving dishes.

(2) Cups or glasses.

(3) Silverware.

(D) How should a kitchen be equipped if a residential living unit does not have a full kitchen?

In instances where a residential living unit does not include a full kitchen, the unit shall be furnished with appropriate equipment to allow for the preparation of light snacks.
