Section 3313.6033

 
Section 3313.6033 is not yet in effect. It takes effect September 30, 2025.

(A) Notwithstanding section 3319.236 of the Revised Code, a school district, community school established under Chapter 3314. of the Revised Code, or science, technology, engineering, and mathematics school established under Chapter 3326. of the Revised Code may permit an individual who holds a valid educator license in any of grades kindergarten through twelve to teach a computer science course if, in the last five years, the individual has completed a professional development program approved by the district superintendent or school principal that provides content knowledge specific to the course the individual will teach. To continue teaching computer science under this section, an individual shall complete the professional development program every five years in accordance with the educator licensure recertification process. The superintendent or principal shall approve any professional development program endorsed by the organization that creates and administers the national advanced placement examinations as appropriate for the course the individual will teach.

(B) Nothing in this section shall permit an individual described in division (A) of this section to teach a computer science course in a school district or school other than the school district or school that employed the individual at the time the individual completed the professional development program required by that division.

(C) Notwithstanding section 3301.012 of the Revised Code, as used in this section, "computer science course" means any course that is reported in the education management information system established under section 3301.0714 of the Revised Code as a computer science course.
