(A) The department of children and youth shall establish and maintain a uniform statewide automated child welfare information system in accordance with the requirements of 42 U.S.C. 674(a)(3)(C) and related federal regulations and guidelines. The information system shall contain records regarding any of the following:

(1) Investigations of children and families, and children's care in out-of-home care, in accordance with sections 2151.421 and 5153.16 of the Revised Code;

(2) Care and treatment provided to children and families;

(3) Any other information related to children and families that state or federal law, regulation, or rule requires the department or a public children services agency to maintain.

(B) "Out-of-home care" has the same meaning as in section 2151.011 of the Revised Code.
