If a county department of job and family services knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the subject of a report made under section 5101.61 or of an investigation conducted under sections 5101.62 to 5101.64 or on the initiative of the department is mentally retarded or developmentally disabled as defined in section 5126.01 of the Revised Code, the department shall refer the case to the county board of developmental disabilities of that county for review pursuant to section 5126.31 of the Revised Code.

If a county board of developmental disabilities refers a case to the county department of job and family services in accordance with section 5126.31, the department shall proceed with the case in accordance with sections 5101.60 to 5101.71 of the Revised Code.
